Scientists are now successfully developing technology to monitor what your brain sees. Apparently this may even include what your brain is witnessing while you are dreaming. The full article about the story is here: Scientists Turn Brain Activity Into Moving Images. Though they say that you shouldn’t be worried about scientists parsing your memories in the future, their justification for not needing to worry is that “faulty memory” would provide “misleading” information. They never outright say that your memory cannot be compromised with this technology, which is scary to me.
Take a look at the video showing what the scientists have been able to do so far:
It’s pretty blurry and inaccurate at the moment, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before sharper images can be resolved. I think it will be incredibly cool to see what’s going on while a person is dreaming, but at the same time I’m not sure if I would want people to be able to go through my head like a hacked computer either. What’s next, are they going to try and read our thoughts? Our desires?
