Today I have been reading about Obama pushing for tax increases on the wealthy. According to the articles I’ve read, there will be a $1.5 trillion tax increase which is designed mainly to only affect rich people. Interestingly, one of the methods they are doing this is by eliminating some of the various loopholes people can take advantage of with their taxes. It’s about time the government started increasing their earnings by making it harder for the crooks instead of taxing the honest and hard working citizens.
In this however, a puzzling decision was made to make a $248 billion cut to Medicare and $72 billion to Medicaid. Reasoning aside, this is going to make it more difficult for people who depend on things like medicare part d to cover expensive prescription drug bills – which is something many elderly people rely on. From what I’ve read, the cuts won’t come from an increase in the eligibility age, but by some other means. I wonder why they couldn’t be direct and say exactly how?
Many people don’t like Medicare for numerous reasons; one of which being the eligibility age which I guess is why they addressed that issue. Just take a look at this chart from 2007:

I support anything that will increase the health and lifespan of the population, and while I support tax increases for the rich (by elimination of the loopholes), I’m not so sure I agree with the whole Medicare thing. It may have problems of it’s own, but that’s a separate issue and tax cuts in this area will only make things worse.

Summer is almost over thank god, but with the retreat of the heat comes the beginning of flu season. Many people don’t stay up to date with the weather and when the temperatures fall, they don’t adjust their wardrobe immediately to accomodate the cooler temperatures. It may be in the 70s everyday for a week and then one day the temperature never makes it above 50. Many people (especially children) still dress for the 70s when the 50 degree day hits, and their exposure to the cold weakens their immune system making them susceptible to illness.
September is when the cool days usually start rolling in, so if you want to avoid a doctor bill, it may be a good time to start checking the weather forecasts on a daily basis. Sometimes the weather can be unpredictable, so in case you do get caught out in the cold you should make sure to find doctors in your area ahead of time. That way, if you do get sick from some freak cold front, you don’t have to waste any time figuring out who you’re going to call about it. If you are elderly and receive Medicare benefits, you may want to do some extra research online to find drs that accept humana insurance.
So when the cooler temperatures start coming in, remember the best protection against illness is prevention. It will be very stressful if you get sick and don’t have a doctor to go to.

Buying medications without any type of insurance can be incredibly costly, and this is especially true when you are purchasing medications regularly. Whether its prescription or OTC drugs, there are alternatives to the expensive prices you find in local pharmacies. One of the best alternatives I have found is CanadaDrugCenter.com. CanadaDrugCenter.com is not only a good source for finding Canada drugs, but purchases can be made internationally as well. In my experience with this website, I decided to evaluate them in a few different areas.
How safe are the medications from CanadaDrugsCenter.com? That was the first question I asked myself. In my research, I’ve found no evidence to say anything negative about them in this regard. They are a member of the Canadian International Pharmacy Association and the International Pharmacy Association of BC. They are licensed professionals and are dedicated to providing the highest quality brand name and generic medications available on the market. It is important to buy from a trusted source especially if you want to buy Nexium or other potent drugs online.
Their ordering and delivery policy was my other topic of interest. I was pleased to be able to buy Lipitor online (to help with my weight loss efforts) at an affordable price. Being able to purchase it on the internet eliminates a trip to the pharmacy every few weeks which is extremely convenient. As I live in the United States, the delivery took slightly longer than it would have if I resided in Canada, but that was to be expected since I live so far away. I can always plan my orders ahead anyway so that doesn’t even matter.
Overall I was fairly impressed with CanadaDrugCenter.com. Though I haven’t had any problems that required me to contact their customer service, they do have a toll free number. From what I can tell there really is no reason to buy drugs anywhere else.

Yes, they give you cancer. That’s old news, though.
The new “news” is that cell phones are being classified as dangerous as lead, engine exhaust, and chloroform.
The radio waves are, according to scientists, comparable to the waves used by a microwave to cook food. Essentially, you’re cooking your own brain by talking to your friends/family/business contacts. This technically also means that even if you don’t get cancer from cell phone use, you are still damaging your own brain by using one:
So in addition to leading to a development of cancer and tumors, there could be a whole host of other effects like cognitive memory function, since the memory temporal lobes are where we hold our cell phones.
Furthermore, it’s suspected that children who are exposed to cell phone use are more likely to get brain-related cancers as a result of cell phone usage because their skulls aren’t as thick as an adults, allowing the radiation to penetrate deeper into their head.
Since it’s unlikely people are going to stop using cell phones because of this information, the cell phone manufacturers have released tips on how to reduce the exposure to the radiation, suggesting that users should:
- Hold the device a small distance away from the ear when using it.
- Not use a cell phone while moving (in a car, elevator, walking, etc.)
- Use the speakerphone when possible
